Try the many hiking trails along the fjord or in the forest
The area in and around Mariager offers several scenic hiking trails. Explore the forest or take the route along the fjord and experience the most beautiful scenery. Climb Denmark’s largest burial mound Hohøj or the hills in Alstrup krat.
In the area you will also find more well-known routes – including the Panorama route at Bramslev Bakker and Rebild hills in Rold Skov.
Under “See hiking routes” you can get a selection of known and recommended hiking routes. You can also download “Stiguide Himmerland”, an app with local hiking routes in the heart of Himmerland. Or drop by reception for hiking suggestions.
Bike
Get around on a bike
Take your bike to Mariager and experience nature in a class of its own. The area around Mariager Fjord offers some of Denmark's most beautiful nature, and on two wheels you'll get up close to the green forests, open spaces and the fjord landscape.
Whether you like quiet rides on country roads or want to challenge yourself on hilly terrain and mountain bike trails, there are routes to suit all tastes.
Don't have your bike with you? Don't worry - just 100 meters from the campsite you'll find Aalborg Outdoor's self-service station where you can easily rent a bike.
A popular choice is Route 32 - also called the Mariager Fjord Route. It is a fantastic bike route around the fjord of approximately 65 kilometers, taking you to the cities of Hadsund and Hobro.
